The island of Sicily,
situated in the Mediterranean Sea, is an emerging
market with huge potential. This is the only
undeveloped Mediterranean island and in the
last 3 years, the accessibility of Sicily has
gradually improved.
Between 2003 and 2006, direct flights
from the Uk have been created with British Airways
and Air Malta. Several budget airlines have
also started flights to Sicily, including Air
Berlin, and Ryanair. Meridiana and Air Alitialia
also still fly into Sicily. (See flying
to Sicily pages for more information)
- Companies such as Trust House Forte are also
beginning to invest in Sicily
- There is continual talk of building a bridge
linking Sicily to the mainland of Italy. (This
may or may not happen. It is anyone's guess).
- Climate is great for 9 months of the year
- Excellent food

Sicily
- Best Areas to buy in
If you have a HIGH budget i.e. then Catania
is arguably the best city if you want culture,
good facilities and close access to an airport.
The capital city of Sicily, Palermo, is also
a consideration as is the beautiful and historical
town of Siracusa. They are all coastal places
and all within easy reach of the countryside.
If you really have a high budget and you want
the most exclusive place in Sicily, then you
are talking of the seaside resort of Taormina.
This area is real expensive although rental
opportunities are relative and this this has
potential as an investment opportunity.
The Aeolian Islands are also worth considering
if you want somewhere most peaceful and secluded
but stunningly beautiful.
.
There are many opportunities to buy cheaper
, in more rural areas. Prices are lower and
the infrastructure is less developed and you
are further from the airports. It is all about
what you are looking for? An investment opportunity
with rental income, a home to live in all year
round, a rural property?
