The
background when taking travel photos in
Sicily
When
taking travel pictures we sometimes
forget about the fact that the background
can make the difference between a great
travel photograph and one that is not.
Choose carefully a pleasant background
for your subject. A background can
enhance the subject (i.e. a nice natural
landscape is better than a car park),
or make it more interesting if, for
instance, something funny is going
on.
Sicilian
people in the pictures
The
presence of people in a travel photograph
usually makes it more interesting.
Also, try and avoid posing them. It
is better to take pictures of people
when moving or when they do not realise
they are being photographed. The
presence of people in a photograph
is also useful to convey the sense
of proportion, which is otherwise lost
in a photograph. For example, when
taking a shot of a monument, having
people in the photo makes the viewer
realise how gigantic the monument is.
Get
close to the action with your
photos in Sicily If
something interesting is going on,
try and be as close to the action as
possible. Do not be timid, as a picture
taken from the distance is usually
not as interesting as a close shot.
Take
as many pictures as you can In
order to take great travel photographs,
do not be afraid to experiment. Shoot
the same scene or subject from different
angles, in different light conditions,
with different camera settings. Especially
nowadays, with digital photography,
it has become so easy to take all the
pictures you want. You can always delete
the ones you do not like; the more
you experiment, the more the chances
you will have of taking very good shots.
Tell
a story with your Sicily photos When
taking pictures during a trip, make
sure that you are not just taking shot
after shot with no connection to each
other. The pictures you take need to
have an emotional content and remind
you of happy moments enabling you to
follow a plot, which is the story of
your trip.
