Diving in Sicily

For diving in Sicily, Lampedusa offers excellent facilities. If you are looking to get your PADI licence to take lessons, then this area offers you a number of diving schools. One school we can recommend is Bluedolphins centre.

Shopping in Sicily

Sicily is certainly a great place for buying food, so much so that my wife recently went to Sicily for a few days with a small bag and brought back a 23kg bag of food (including olive oil, sun-dried tomatoes etc).

With its dozens of small streets lines with shops, restaurants and cafes, Taormina can be a great place for shopping. You can buy everything from antiques, china and glassware, to jewelry and Italian ice-cream. In Catania, the local fish market and the main daily market in the city centre, is also well worth visiting.

For food all over Sicily, cheeses, wines, liqueurs, olive oil, desserts, sun dried tomatoes, aubergines and olives are some items worth buying.

Sunbathing & Swimming in Sicily

People in Palermo love to go to Mondello Lido. Mondello Lido has a white sandy beach, 2km long.

In Catania, one of the best places in my opinion is La Plaja, a lovely beach on the South in Catania. Each section of the beach has changing facilities, refreshments area and volleyball courts etc. At night time this area also turns into an outdoor nightclub area.

Taormina. also has a cute little beach, which can be reached by cable car from the town centre, at the top of the cliff. The beach names Lido Mazzarò. There are bars and restaurants on the side of the beach also.
